Lawyer attacked over parking dispute at Dumdum apartment; 25 stitches required

A serious incident occurred at Ambalika Apartment, located on 97, Dumdum Road, when a confrontation over parking escalated into a violent attack. Tapan Sarkar, an outsider, has been allegedly parking his car in the common space of the apartment for a prolonged period, a practice that has caused ongoing tensions with the residents. On the day of the incident, lawyer Debasundar Darifa, a resident of the apartment, confronted Sarkar about the issue, which led to a verbal altercation between the two.

After the initial confrontation, Sarkar reportedly left the scene but returned shortly afterward, continuing the argument with Darifa. During this exchange, Sarkar allegedly attacked Darifa with a sharp object, causing severe injuries to the lawyer's cheek. Darifa was immediately rushed to Dumdum Municipality Hospital for treatment. Doctors confirmed that Darifa received 25 stitches to close the wound on his cheek.

Following the attack, Darifa filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Nagerbazar Police Station. Based on the complaint, police officials apprehended Tapan Sarkar and arrested him on charges related to the assault. The investigation is currently ongoing, and Sarkar is expected to be presented in court. Authorities have stated that further legal actions will follow as per the investigation’s findings.
